what does a doula do?
Supports you during pregnancy
Provide unlimited communication by phone/text or email, help you define your birth preferences, offer guidance to local pregnancy resources and evidence-based information, and more!
Provide continuous labor & birth support
A doula is a trusted and familiar face in the birthing room. She is present to provide emotional and physical support throughout the labor process, suggesting ways to get comfortable and encourage labor progression.
Offer immediate postpartum support
Assist with the baby's first feedings, visit your new family at home, and connect your family to local postpartum resources.
meet the doula
Hello, I'm Mary!
As a birth doula, I am a part of your birth team! I provide non-judgmental support and advocate for your birth wishes, even as plans evolve throughout labor and delivery. I do not make healthcare decisions for you or speak on your behalf, but encourage you and your partner to voice your birth preferences and offer informational guidance to help you make well-informed decisions. My goal is for you to have an empowered and satisfying birth, no matter what kind of birth that is!
I am a Certified Birth Doula through DONA International, and a Certified Breastfeeding Specialist (CBS). I have previous healthcare experience as a practical nurse (LPN) and am currently licensed in the State of Michigan.
I look forward to meeting you!
"Mary was amazing! We could not have asked for a better doula."
"When we went into labor she was there for us the entire time. She knew just what to say and her calm demeanor helped keep everyone grounded. Her commitment was unmatched. Never once did my wife or I feel like she was "just doing a job." If we have more children in the future we will be turning to Mary!"
